The term Supported Independent Living, otherwise known as SIL, refers to professional care provided to people who have a disability that need support to live independently. Whether a participant is to live on their own or in shared housing, SIL aims to boost their quality of life and freedom as much as possible.
Living support can include assistance with daily tasks and activities that may be difficult for a participant to complete on their own, including cooking meals, personal care tasks, medication management, help with transportation, support with social and recreational activities and more.
Ability House Support Staff can assist with creating a personalized support plan by considering the participants living goals, needs, preferences and funding. The goal is for a participant with a disability to live independently whilst also building on their own living skills to enhance their daily life.
There are many benefits of NDIS supported living, but perhaps the most vital is the ability for people with disabilities to be supported to live as independently as possible. The goal of SIL is to provide people with disabilities with methods and techniques to establish their own unique lifestyle. Whether the participant has a recent or lifelong disability, A is able to provide them with the tools they need to live as happy and productive a life as possible.
To access SIL services, you must have a current NDIS plan with allocated funding for SIL included in your plan or Disability Support for Older Australians Program (DSOA) funding.
